Broadhempston Primary School SATs: 2nd in Devon, joint 56th in England
The national league tables for primary schools have just been published for year 6 children who have gained level 4 or above in the Standard Assessments Tasks (SAT’s) or tests. For 2011 Broadhempston Primary School is ranked 56th from the 194 schools across the country who also achieved 100 % at level 4. Furthermore we are ranked joint 2nd in Devon.
To be published nationally is wonderful news for our little school; despite regularly achieving above the national expectation for SAT’s results over many years, this is the first time we have been published nationally as our cohorts have been too small.
- Our playground is now fully covered in wet pour (soft stuff) the children love it!
Broadhempston is a small village school of about 60 children, split between three classes. It is situated some six miles east of Totnes in an attractive rural village just inside the border of Teignbridge District Council with the South Hams.
It was constructed in 1870 on the previous site of the village workhouse, adjacent to the church and consists of just one main building, housing; two classrooms; a library / IT suite, office and staffroom.
The small-enclosed playground is supplemented in dry weather with a very well equipped and fenced public field and playground 15 metres across the road.
The school enjoys the luxury of a minibus which is regularly used to transport children to the Parish sports field about 3/4 of a mile away for formal sports events and activities in the local area.
