We had another adventurous forest school session where the children enjoyed whittling wood, going on a scavenger hunt for minibeasts and drawing different designs onto the trees using chalk.
Fire Station Visit 2019
Our topic this term has been 'The Great Fire of London'. We have been discussing how firefighting has changed since 1666 and we visited the fire station to see this change for ourselves. During the fire station visit, the children all enjoyed exploring about the fire engines, learning about the equipment that the firefighters use and listening to the fire siren. We decided that our favourite parts of the trip were watching the firefighters come down the fire pole and using the fire engine hose to shoot water at fire targets.
You can see the fun that we had in the photographs below.
Forest School Autumn Term 2019
Class 2 enjoyed their first Forest School experience of the year. Under the trees, children spent time re-building a den out of tarpaulin . We also enjoyed creating different wildlife creatures, such as hedgehogs and spiders, out of clay and built dens using various sized sticks and logs. During our time in the forest, we spotted some real life spiders and worms; we also splashed in the mud with our welly boots.
Autumn Term 2019
The children have all been extremely busy settling into their classroom during the first few weeks back at school! The children have been completing some excellent pieces of work, which have included diary writing based on The Diary of a Killer Cat in literacy, fact files about The Great Fire of London in history and charcoal drawings of St Paul's Cathedral in art. In PE, children have also been exploring skills in team-building, speed and direction.
As you can see, we have created some of our own Killer Cats using pastels, pipe-cleaners and our unique, creative designs.
