Dear Parents and Carers,
I am very much looking forward to joining the team at Broadhempston, after four years leading Stoke Gabriel Primary School. I thought I would introduce myself briefly before September. I live in South Brent with my wife, three children and a dog. My children are aged 17,20 and 22. All three children attended the local primary school and then KEVICC in Totnes. I have worked in several Primary Schools across the South Hams since changing career from a French and Spanish teacher in secondary schools. I love the sense of community that working in a primary school brings and intend to keep Broadhempston School at the heart of the community.
I would like to extend my sympathies to any of you who have suffered loss or hardship during these last few months. Lockdown and covid have had a terrible impact on some families. I recognise that many of you and your children may be feeling nervous about the changes in staff for September. I would like to reassure you that we will ensure a smooth transition back to school for all the children. They need to be happy and settled if they are going to learn effectively and may well need support and guidance to process the events of the last few months. Having said that, I think they will welcome the return to normality that September will bring.
I will be writing to you before school starts with details of timings and arrangements. Mr Turner has been incredibly helpful during our handover and I want to get all the details right before contacting you with the full arrangements. In the meantime, I hope that you are all able to enjoy the summer with your families and friends. I look forward to meeting many of you on Monday the 7th of September.
