Broadhempston Village Primary School

School Closure Monday 5th July - Tuesday 13th July

Dear Parents,

Sorry to message on a Sunday but I have important news to share and I wanted everyone to have as much time as possible to put plans in place. We have had a positive case of COVID in school, a PCR was returned to a family today as positive.

I have been in contact with Public Health England and the DFE today and they have taken me through the protocols and procedures our school community now needs to follow. I will send their letter through to you all shortly.

I have answered all their questions this morning and talked to Nicky, our CEO, to ensure the actions we take are the right ones.

Although we try and remain as two separate bubbles (upstairs and downstairs) this is incredibly challenging, we have to go through downstairs classrooms to access upstairs, we make use of our only set of toilets for all children, a limited time for lunch, and limited staffing inevitably mean we cross bubbles across each day.

It is therefore necessary for our school community to isolate for 10 days from Saturday 3rd July. We will therefore be closed until Tuesday 13th July when children may return. Staff will ensure that work is posted on your children’s TEAMs accounts by the end of the day tomorrow – please bear with us as plans may need to be altered slightly to enable learning to move onto a digital platform. It is vital that everyone does their utmost to continue with their learning. We have all worked so hard to make gains where lockdown had impacted on learning and together, we need to ensure we do not let this make a negative impact on the children.

Thank you for your continued support at this challenging time.

Kind regards

Jill Ryder
